SERVPRO of Southwest Portland received a call regarding a wet carpet that the customers started to notice over the past 5 days. Within 30 minutes of the call ending our crew arrived on the scene to do the initial inspection. It was apparent during the inspection that there were five areas that were affected and have water sitting underneath the materials. We also found standing water in the wine cellar located in the furnace room. In addition, we noticed that the wood paneling in the wine cellar was losing its integrity and when we pulled back the baseboards, the tile flooring in the wine cellar was beginning to lift from the water underneath.
After the initial inspection, it was apparent that demolition was going to be needed for the furnace room vinyl tile flooring needed to be removed, detach the door to the wine cellar and remove tile, cement board, baseboards, and trim. In addition, we needed to cut a 2ft flood cut, and detach the wood panel wall to expose the hallway structure materials, and we then disposed of the panel wall since it was deemed unsalvageable. In the basement we had to lift the carpet, remove the pad and discolored tack strips, then we had to build containment to isolate the affected floors.
SERVPRO of Southwest Portland was able to restore the family home to preloss condition in only 5 days. The customers were very pleased with the response time and the fact that we were always in constant communication with them during this process.SERVPRO of Southwest Portland professionals can give you peace of mind by helping make it “Like it never even happened."
