Coming home from vacation to a huge mold problem

Mold growing on wall Listed below are ways to control moisture and reduce mold!

SERVPRO of Southwest Portland received a very shocking call regarding a local home. The customer informed us that their home has suffered mold damage in their basement that was caused by an overflowing toilet. The customer also informed us that they were gone for the summer and the damage was discovered as soon as they returned home from vacation.

SERVPRO of Southwest Portland has trained technicians that are able to test and remove mold growth, and then restore the space affected back to preloss condition. Believe it or not, mold problems like this can be mitigated with the right expertise and equipment. Every mold infestation is different, from the extent and type of growth to the variety of materials affected. Each scenario requires a unique solution, but the general process stays the same. The family was very grateful that we were able to recover their home and protect them from any potential health effects.

Here are the same ways to control moisture and reduce mold in your home or business:

  • Correct any water leaks or standing water
  • Remove standing water under cooling coils or air handling units
  • Replace washing machine hoses with steel mesh lines
  • Move large objects away from the wall to provide good air circulation
  • Use exhaust fans in bathrooms, kitchens, and laundry rooms

Here at SERVPRO of Southwest Portland, we make sure to make your home or business look just as good as new or how we like to say "Like it never even happened." Please call SERVPRO of Southwest Portland twenty-four a day seven days a week for any Fire, Water, Mold, or Bio-hazard clean-ups. If you have any questions please give us a call at 503.777.9739.
